Measured Drawings
To record and measure a building for historical or analytical purposes.

Sketch Journal
The first thing we did was organize a visit to penang. Our destination was an old shop house thats over 100 years old. We were tasked with doing multiple on site skecthes as well as assist in any measurements that we required. Since our site was all the way in Penang, we had to get it right the while we can. Inaccurate mesaurements were not an option.
REFLECTION : After completion, I have learnt that a building is not merely a space enclosed by four walls but rather a place of interaction by people as well as a language of which a community can translate their cultural aspects into.

Model
Using the measurements aqquired in Penang, our team started working on the video, report, and modeling, as well as the AutoCAD drawings. The Modeling Team was tasked with creating a detail model of the building to scale. Detailing of the building was emphasized in the model creation.
REFLECTION : While seeing my other classmates work on the model, the interior and overall structural design of the building is revealed. To me, the various cross sectional views one can see during the construction of the model is very informative and has provided me with quite abit of knowledge that reinforces my teachings in the Building Construction module.
Report & Video
The report team had interviewed the owner and carried out various other forms of primary information gathering to form a report and video on our building and site. The report includes the technical drawings of the building as well as the various cultural and historical elements of the area.
The Report cna be found HERE.
REFLECTION : While helping out in various construction detailing for the production of the report, and viewing what the video team has done, it ade me realise that while studying a building, the site and cultural standpoint is very important. Not only is the integrity of the building a focus point but so must the people and type of community that use it. The site is important as the building needs to be in coherance with the surroundings so as to not stand out too much, but at the same time have enough to be noticed as a unique building.
